Springfield 1911 DS Prodigy AOS 9mm 5” Barrel 17+1/20+1

Have you ever wanted a quality made semi auto pistol for home defense or sport shooting? Maybe something that is red dot ready? Well take a look at the Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy. The Springfield DS Prodigy 1911 is a 1911 with a 5" barrel and high capacity double stack magazine chambered in 9mm. The Prodigy modernizes the single action 1911 with its incredible trigger by giving it a 17 or 20 round capacity and an optic ready slide designed to co witness with the optic of your choice using individual rear sight baseplates.

Springfield has chosen the AOS (Agency Optic System) which uses an interchangeable billet steel optics plate with an integral rear U-Notch sight paired to the red dot sight it is made for. The Prodigy comes with a Hex Dragonfly plate. Additional plates for your choice of optic are available at springfield-armory.com. A rich black Cerakote protects a forged carbon steel slide with front and rear cocking serrations, a green fiber optic front sight and serrated rear U-Notch rear baseplate/sight. A three position skeletonized hammer with a textured, round hammer spur provides positive control of and fast lockup while the three position hammer provides additional safety above and beyond the traditional 1911 grip and thumb safeties should your finger slip off the hammer while cocking the gun.

To keep you apprised of the loaded or unloaded status of the firearm a loaded chamber indicator provides a fast and easy visual inspection port to see if a round is in the chamber. The DS Prodigy makes abundant use of Springfield's Adaptive Grip Texture to provide a firm purchase and complete control of the firearm even with wet hands. A Picatinny rail on the dust cover provides plenty of room for your choice of weapon light or laser. Springfield has optimized the standard sight picture for a useful point of aim at 25 yards so that at 25 yards, the bullet should impact the target at the point visible at the top of the front sight. The Prodigy comes with (1) 17 and (1) 20 round magazines. An optional 26 round magazine is available. DS Prodigy magazines are cross compatible with 2011 platforms.
